The Army is modernizing its radio / satellite communications (SATCOM) system under the LAND 2072 Phase 2B Project Currawon with Boeing Defense Australia (BDA).

As part of this effort, the Medium SATCOM Terminal (MST) is a trailer-based Earth terminal with a 2.5m satellite dish. It is the only secure SATCOM system of this size that can be deployed quickly and has dual band certification for the military Wideband Global SATCOM X and Ka band in addition to the civilian Ku Band.
MST provides pioneering combat communications capabilities for deployed fighters, achieving defensive acceptance.

MST is a step change in the evolution of combat communication systems, leveraging the enhanced multi-security bearers and network services, control and management capabilities of the Currawong system.
